I am happy to say I have my life back!

My podiatrist sent me to Midwest Pain Treatment Center at Blanchard Valley Health System with the hope that they could find a way to control the pain that had in my foot and leg. That by controlling the pain would help prevent the amputation of my leg. After 11 years and 8 surgeries, I believed there would never be an end to the constant pain that I felt in my foot and leg.

I met with the doctor at Midwest Pain Treatment Center to discuss the possibility of pain management. After examining my foot, the doctor told me I had RSD. He then asked why I wanted to have my leg removed. I told him I could no longer tolerate the pain and that I had thought about putting an end to my life because of it.

He informed me of The Implanted Neurostimulator System. After testing for the system, I had the surgery to have this device implanted.

The staff was well informed and kept me updated through out the whole procedure. I believe that I could not have found a better doctor, staff and office to go to.

I am happy to say I have my life back. It is so nice to go day after day without pain. I cannot thank the doctor and his staff enough. They have given me back the freedom to enjoy all the things that the pain had taken away from me.

Positively Impressed!

I had an unexpected additional result from surgery: the diagnosis was complex regional pain syndrome; but to me, it was searing, burning, excruciating pain. After months of treatment that consisted of an increasing amount of drugs and consultations with a psychologist, my medical team recommended professional pain management. My neurologist gave me the name of the Midwest Pain Treatment Center in Findlay and she urged me to seek treatment. I was extremely skeptical, as I had been led to believe my condition was untreatable.

From my initial consult throughout my treatment, I have been positively impressed with my care and the course of my therapy. I am treated with care and compassion on such an individual level, that I do not feel I am just another patient. And, I am seeing results I never thought I would. My life is being given back to me. Pain is no longer holding me captive. I truly believe this clinic and the staff is doing everything in their power to control my pain and to lead me back to functioning rather than suffering. From my initial consult, the doctor said he did not think he could cure me, but he believed he could help me. That was the most positive statement I had heard in over a year. But more importantly, he put a therapy behind his words.

I have gone from being a skeptic to an advocate. No one should suffer from pain that can be treated by pain management specialists. Help is available and I strongly recommend that patients should seek assistance as soon as they realize their pain is not going away. It is not acceptable to suffer or to expect that a family physician is schooled in pain therapy. I believe the patient should take responsibility and to ask for more options in pain management. My option led me to this clinic and this decision is leading me back to the life I had before my failed surgery.
